Love me some social media promo videos. A fun local shoot for CT Carpet One which began with a brainstorm of ideas from Threshold Media on google docs turned into a fun shoot with beignets and moving furniture. In total the shoot took maybe 2 hours. The goal was to show CT Carpet One doing an in home consultation in Loudoun County where they are expanding. Which is free BTW. The first shot was the walking into the house greeting the customer. Both from behind Jeff and then again behind the customer. Simple shots really however we aren’t dealing with actors here. Which is nice for the realistic aspect of things. You want to see who you’re actually going to meet when you buy CT Carpet Ones services. After a few takes of me showing them what I wanted them to do and a bunch of laughs (see above) they got it. The other shots went decently smooth minus me asking them to move the chairs.. and then the rug… and then the samples again… and then not getting the final gimbal shot for about 10 takes… At the end of the day we got to celebrate with the beignets that Barb had brought for us to use a prop and a snack. I immediately went home and edited the video. I had a first draft done in a couple hours with graphics. After a couple revisions it was finished and the end client loves it!

A love letter to video. Lone Oak Coffee has been my go to coffee for nearly a decade. My first job in Virginia was at a coffee shop that sold Lone Oak Coffee. Over the years I started hanging out with Sam and then offered him a free video to show the process of him roasting coffee. That initial video was made it 2018 and gained a ton of traction. In turn that grew my confidence in creating videos. Fast forward to 2023 I wanted to create a more in depth version of the same video. With that in mind I decided to interview Sam and get the love he has for specialty coffee and how he’s making it more accessible to the DMV and Winchester area. Every time I shoot a video for Lone Oak Im reminded of the beginnings of shooting silly videos for youtube in middle school and then Vlogging. And with that I say go visit Sam and the Lone Oak crew at https://www.loneoakcoffee.com/ and tell ‘em Alex sent ya.
